About the Customer

Engineering Industries eXcellence has begun an exciting new digital transformation project for the Oil & Gas Blending and Transfer industry in North America. Our customer specializes in the design, manufacture, supply and support of downhole motor power sections used in drilling directional and horizontal wells. To help the customer optimize their production, our Simulation & Decision Science practice is delivering a scheduling solution that will integrate their end-to-end manufacturing systems and create more effective, resilient and flexible production schedules.

The Customer’s Need

Dedicated to continuous improvement, the customer sought innovative Industry 4.0 solutions to increase the efficiency of their production scheduling from design to final delivery. Their primary goal was to reduce the variability in process times at specific stages of production, as unknown disruptions often derailed their time-sensitive plans. Without flexibility or a backup schedule to address these deviations, the customer was spending more time manually reconfiguring their production plan, leading to increased manufacturing costs and lower efficiency.

Although they understood these pain points, the customer was unsure which technology solutions would integrate best with their manufacturing framework and meet their unique business needs. Ready to help the customer on their digital transformation journey, Engineering Industries eXcellence was selected as their Simulation & Decision Science solution consultant and implementation partner.

About the Project

In the first phase of this project, our Simulation & Decision Science experts conducted a series of Industry 4.0 Assessments at the customer’s main production facility in the United States. Next, our team created a design specification model to address the current challenges and anticipate the customer’s future production needs. The proposed solution leveraged AnyLogic Simulation Software, a highly configurable modeling technology that enables the optimization and real-time monitoring of production processes to drive intelligent, flexible scheduling.

In phase two, we delivered a proof-of-concept simulation model to the customer, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the solution integrates with their current systems and works for their people. Next will come implementation at the customer’s main facility, and then across their global sites in Europe and North America.
