A New Offering for MOM
Engineering is currently active in several initiatives in the latest cutting-edge technology from Siemens: Opcenter Execution (previously SIMATIC IT Unified Architecture). This is the new platform from Siemens that extends the current offering of Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
The new platform specifically addresses mobility and SOA 2.0 requirements for an improved and agile approach to MES and MOM. As a strategic partner, Engineering has been involved in several initiatives with what was previously called Unified Architecture early in the piloting phase, and increasingly when the new version was released on the market in late 2015. Recently, Engineering is working even more closely with Siemens in mapping customer requirements to the new platform and feeding product management with market inputs from Engineering’s customer base. Our customers are asking for a new and improved user experience specifically tailored to mobile platforms, a mature event-driven middleware capable of handling large numbers of transactions as well as a flexible approach to reach full coverage of the MOM space with no hassle. Opcenter Execution (SIMATIC IT Unified Architecture) is the answer to these critical points.
Engineering's MOM Expertise
Our engineers are involved in developing solutions and are very knowledgeable of the capabilities of the new platform. Among the initiatives we are currently involved in, we can mention:
- An at-line quality solution to handle material holds and quarantine
- A solution targeting labeling, palletizing and shipping
- An implementation targeting OEE and production KPIs
- A new approach to traceability and genealogy leveraging HTML5 and RESTful services
- A SOA 2.0 implementation targeting integration with DNC machines and the central Teamcenter PLM repository
Engineering has been working with Siemens as a trusted partner in maintaining the Siemens Opcenter (SIMATIC IT Unified Architecture) demo environment at the MxD institute (Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute) of Chicago. Join us at MxD or request a remote demo to experience the capabilities of the comprehensive new platform firsthand. We can guide you through the new features and capabilities, answer your questions about the new approach and define a clear roadmap for MOM excellence for you in the near future.
