Engineering’s software development team is excited to start a new project for one of our existing customers in the Oil & Gas industry. The project consists of redesigning and extending an existing customized solution with additional functionalities for managing different orders in the company’s oil and lubricant production plant, including:

  • Packaging
  • Blending
  • Truck Loading and Unloading

The order manager will be used by the operators in the factory and will consist of these major features:

  • Browser-Based: The solution will leverage HTML5 standards to provide an easy-to-deploy and easy-to-use experience both for the system integrator and the end user.
  • Synchronization with a custom ERP System: The system will have to synchronize order data with a global ERP system to keep the system up-to-date with the most recent production data.
  • OPC Communication with the Machines: Transparent and fast communication with the machines via the OPC protocol will enable the system to effectively act as an overseer of the entire lifecycle of each order, from ERP to machines, and back. In addition, the user will be able to see real-time values from the machines directly through the browser interface.

The project also involves onsite deployment of and support for the solution for a major oil & gas vendor. Thanks to the choice of technologies and workflows, Engineering aims at making the deployment process as easy as possible, so that the deployment can be replicated for new plants in the future with minimum effort.

The solution is a customized application built with the newest web technologies available today. On the path to extend and grow our software development experience, this project will be a huge step towards modern software engineering, utilizing good development practices and focusing on re-usability, modularization, shorter release-and-feedback cycles and fewer bugs.

As we continue to expand our expertise in effective software development solutions for the manufacturing world, Engineering expects to increase the flow of projects that require customized development. Our software development team is very excited for the future and ready to take on even bigger challenges to deliver quality and cutting-edge customized applications.
