On-Demand: Battery Thermal Management with Siemens
About the Webinar: A Multiphysics Approach to Battery Thermal Management
As battery integrators push for more powerful batteries in demanding applications, ensuring safety and peak performance becomes a top priority. In this webinar, we will explore how multiphysics analysis accelerates battery performance modeling by accounting for simultaneous factors like heat, stress, and flow. Attendees will learn how this advanced approach not only models normal battery behavior but also accurately simulates runaway scenarios, offering a faster, more precise alternative to traditional methods. By the end of the session, you'll gain insight into how multiphysics analysis can streamline development phases, driving innovation without compromising safety.
Our Speakers
Sean Sullivan: Sean brings over 30 years of experience in leading analysis projects across Aerospace & Defense, Consumer Goods, Energy, Automotive and Industrial Manufacturing industries. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed more than 100 analysis projects, including the critical analysis of batteries used in four Mars rovers. Recognized as one of the foremost experts in the U.S. on automating analysis engineering processes, Sean is highly regarded for his deep technical expertise and innovative approach. A graduate of the University of Connecticut College of Engineering, he currently serves as the Vice President of Engineering Automation at Engineering Industries eXcellence.
John Wilson: John has over eight years of commercial experience in multiphysics simulation. He started his career at Siemens after completing his PhD at Imperial College in London. After working in technical support for Simcenter STAR-CCM+ for six years, he joined the 3D Fluids Center of Excellence organization at Siemens as a customer solutions consultant focusing on battery cell development and thermal management. He recently performed a custom proof of concept for a major Electric Vehicle manufacturer to understand the propagation of thermal runaway in their near 200-cell battery pack. As a form of continuing education, he recently completed a certificate in Advanced Mathematics at the University of Houston with a focus on statistics, linear programming and multivariate analysis.
