About the Customer

Engineering is about to begin a project with a large foodservice packaging solutions company. The project will take place at their corporate headquarters in the U.S., but the industry-leading customer currently has more than 40 locations in 7 countries and employs approximately 15,000 people worldwide. The customer manufactures more than 4,000 CPG products, including cups, plates, containers, lids and straws.

About the Project

The customer came to Engineering interested in implementing Shop Floor Connect. Shop Floor Connect is a Direct Numerical Control (DNC) system that transfers CNC program files from Teamcenter directly onto the machine controller. The customer wanted a solution that could integrate with Teamcenter and allow operators on the shop floor to access CNC programs, drawings, 3D models and other data sources.

As we do for all of our implementation projects, before any software or hardware is touched, our world-class consulting team will first complete a comprehensive on-site analysis and evaluation of the customer’s specific manufacturing environment and user requirements. After Engineering fully understands the customer’s current production process and expectations involved with the new integration, our team of specialists will begin to install and configure Shop Floor Connect to meet the customer’s wishes. The new solution will reflect their current CAM data management method to allow an easy transition for all employees. Following configuration, Engineering will begin connecting machines, ensuring that data can be sent to and from each machine. After verifying connections, Engineering will train essential personnel for the project implementation.

The Advantage

Engineering’s main goal for this project is to improve the customer’s overall manufacturing system including CAM data management and DNC process. The customer will begin to experience fewer production errors, fewer shop floor delays, a closer connection between manufacturing engineering and production, and a controlled distribution of the manufacturing plan data. Engineering is looking forward to the start of this project and is committed to provide the customer with the tools needed to significantly improve their manufacturing process.
