About the Customer
Engineering’s North American team is starting an exciting new R&D (Research & Development) project with a leader in the Aerospace & Defense industry. The customer is a world leader in the development, manufacturing and support of small gas turbine engines. The customer is headquartered in Michigan, where the project will be taking place, and also where the company’s R&D, repair, and R&O are based. The customer also has a second facility located in Utah; this plant is the most modern and efficient gas design-to-production turbine facility in the world. The manufacturer produces turbines that range in use from jet aircrafts to cruise missiles and drones.
About the Project
Engineering’s world-class Manufacturing Operations team will be building a fully integrated MOM/MES system that encompasses PLM for Discrete Industry and Automation to drive the customer into the future of manufacturing with Industry 4.0. The idea is to fully automate the production process, from design and engineering to the shop floor, creating a digital loop or thread that will eliminate excess time and costs associated with inefficient data management and execution. This project will be R&D-based and Engineering will be helping the customer achieve many firsts with a unified MOM/MES, PLM, and machine automation network, in which different systems all work together seamlessly, from product inception to product completion and delivery. This digital thread will be an ongoing effort that will span several years, as our team creates and builds the vision that the customer has in mind.
Engineering’s Advantage
Engineering is the best choice for this R&D project as it involves many different solutions, all of which our consultants have years of experience working with, not to mention that Engineering's niche lies in helping manufacturers gain a competitive advantage by helping them bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds of manufacturing. With that expertise and first-hand know-how, the ambitious vision of the customer can become a reality, and our team looks forwarding to leading the customer towards achieving a new advanced level of manufacturing.
