About the Customer

Engineering has been working with a global leader in energy solutions and battery manufacturing. Based out of Midland, Michigan, the customer is an innovator in energy storage technologies based on advanced lithium ion chemistry and has been a market leader for more than 15 years.

Project Update

When the customer came to Engineering, they were in the midst of a massive IT transformation. Our team was faced with supporting a customer dealing with a newly built plant, an advanced idea for producing high end battery cells for the modern world, an implemented Opcenter Execution (SIMATIC IT) MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) package with several other integrated levels of software, and a limping production process not yet ready for full speed.

Called in to assess this situation, Engineering responded by sending two teams of mixed level experts to bring the MES level of software up to speed with the rest of the plant.  A joint group of some of the best Opcenter Execution (SIMATIC IT) experts in the country working alongside Engineering’s rising junior assets was able to rapidly bring the MES structure much closer to where it needs to be in alignment with the production floor.

Engineering’s Advantage

Now, the customer’s battery manufacturing plant is near ready to begin full speed production, while Engineering has been requested to continue work, not only improving the existing MES capabilities but also implementing new ones.  What did the customer gain from working with us? A major improvement in how data is handled and a dedicated team capable of handling their complex industry-specific requirements.

As a new manufacturing company coming into the modern world, every little advantage matters.  Engineering can offer such a company technological advantages in managing different levels of manufacturing production, and also experienced experts who can both implement and improve upon existing software.
