Engineering Industries eXcellence Announces an Integrated Solution to Deliver Digital Manufacturing at The Speed of Light

February 11, 2019, Chicago, Illinois, USA –

Today, Engineering Industries eXcellence announced an integrated solution to bring an innovative Digital Manufacturing offering to the North American market. The solution is based on application software from Engineering Industries eXcellence that is Powered by MindSphere, the cloud-based, open Internet of Things (IoT) operating system from Siemens, to provide real-time shop floor monitoring and intelligent performance analytics. Combined with Augmented Reality (AR) products from Light Guide Systems (LGS) running on HP Workstations, this solution enables digital work instructions, guidance and an innovative work experience for shop floor operators. The integrated solution offering is further enhanced by industry expertise and technology services from Engineering, Light Guide Systems and HP Inc. in order to deploy and integrate these systems, synchronize manufacturing processes and optimize shop floor operations.

The announced offering helps companies ‘Manufacture at The Speed of Light,’ taking manual operations to the next level with live, visual dashboards depicting data from work stations throughout the enterprise. Light Guide Systems provides Augmented Reality work instructions projected directly on the work area to increase quality, productivity and training effectiveness. Additionally, Light Guide Systems captures a wide range of data for manual processes including cycle times, operator badge numbers, defect reporting and serial numbers. This is particularly valuable, since manual process data has been historically difficult to record outside of stopwatch time studies and can provide critical insight into improving manufacturing and assembly operations.

Once the data has been captured by Light Guide Systems, DiVE FactoryTrend – the lightweight yet powerful new application from Engineering Industries eXcellence – is able to collect and analyze data from every connected workstation throughout the plant, providing statistics and feedback on workstation performance through MindSphere. MindSphere connects products, plants, systems and machines, and enables DiVE FactoryTrend users to harness the wealth of data generated by the IoT with advanced analytics. This revolutionary digital offering can also be combined with the hardware power of HP Z Workstations or the HP Sprout Pro to deliver a highly flexible and scalable Industry 4.0 advantage.

Engineering Industries eXcellence will resell AR products from Light Guide Systems and will collaborate to bring this transformative solution to market. In addition, thanks to a leading global team of Industries eXcellence specialists with long-standing experience implementing and integrating the entire spectrum of digital tools for manufacturing, Engineering Industries eXcellence will also deliver the services for this integrated technology offering. Engineering Industries eXcellence will support manufacturing customers by both installing LGS as standalone systems on dedicated plant workstations and/or by integrating LGS within Engineering Industries eXcellence’s full Industry 4.0 offering, connected with MES, PLM and other third-party systems.

With the powerful combination of Light Guide Systems and the DiVE FactoryTrend application from Engineering powered by MindSphere, manufacturers can now collect and analyze the data coming off their shop floors – both from machines and their workforce – in real time. Any step in the manual process with high variations in standard time, quality or stock shortages is immediately flagged, allowing for a quick and appropriate reaction to avoid costly interruptions in production. Finally, this data is also tied with the asset itself, as a result providing previously unavailable data for root cause analysis of issues related to quality, productivity and training. This is a complete solution for Digital Manufacturing at The Speed of Light, aiming to provide the technology, hardware and industry expertise needed to bridge the manufacturing solutions used on the shop floor today with the latest smart technologies available in order to increase productivity and reveal innovative ways to improving the manufacturing process.
