Our customer, a prominent player in the railway transportation sector, specializes in the implementation of rail infrastructure, including stations, lines, battery-powered trains and the underlying components of service. Their innovative rail systems enable more than 18 billion passenger journeys and safely transport millions of tons of freight annually. Having successfully delivered digitalization for the rail leader in past projects, they chose our Smart Transportation Automation & Control team to assist in the integration of new, advanced Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems.

The Customer’s Need

Spanning a projected timeline of 7 years, this built-from-scratch railroad infrastructure will entail substantial investments in hardware, comprehensive IT/OT systems and robust cybersecurity and physical security technologies. About the Project
Engineering Industries eXcellence will focus on two key aspects of this multi-faceted project: civil work and comprehensive integration. Firstly, we will assist the smart transportation leader in the design, development, assembly, testing and commissioning of the innovative rail infrastructure. This includes activities such as excavating tunnels and building underground stations, but it also involves the implementation of technical components such as power, lighting and turnstiles. Secondly, we will focus on the integration of cybersecurity and physical security technologies with other rail systems. Leveraging video surveillance and access control systems in tandem with ticketing and passenger counting systems will result in higher levels of safety across the board. Through these integrations and with the addition of automation, our team will help the customer reach new levels of efficiency and operational excellence.
