After successfully completing a North American MES implementation for the same customer last year, Engineering is again involved working on another Manufacturing Execution System in the US for a major global pharmaceutical manufacturing company. A team of consultants from our Bio Science group has already begun performing an S95 analysis on the three main production processes and is working closely with the PCS team to define Level 3 / Level 4 touch points to facilitate communication between the two layers.

Upon project completion, all three product lines will utilize a paperless Electronic Batch Management system to enable electronic capture of all critical process and quality data along with allowing for quality review and batch release by exception. Reporting along with lot/equipment tracing and tracking will increase visibility at the shop floor level. Integration with both ERP and PCS systems means operators and managers will only need to interact with the MES during stable production. This single point of system contact means reduced training costs as a single user-friendly interface is presented to all end users and there is no need to train in multiple systems. The new system is expected to increase quality, reduce deviations and cycle times and eliminate the need for manual review of paper batch records, saving time and labor for the quality group.
