About the Open Credentialing Initiative (OCI)
The Open Credentialing Initiative (OCI) is a collaborative industry effort enabling pharmaceutical supply chain actors to establish digital proof of identity, licensure status and information authorship using digital wallets and verifiable credentials. The OCI was developed from the Authorized Trading Partner Pilot, which successfully demonstrated the use of open standards, identifiers, GS1 Messaging and credentials to establish Authorized Trading Partners (ATP). With experts in key membership positions for the OCI, Engineering Industries eXcellence works towards the shared goal of establishing and maintaining technical governance, specifications and guidelines in a secure environment that:
- Creates long-term success by advancing the execution of verifiable credentials
- Defines conformance and interoperability criteria
- Leverages collaboration between organizations
- Provides a place for learning and adopting architecture
- Explores further credential-based use cases
Building a Supportive Space for Collaboration
The OCI was founded on the core principle of collaboration between contributors and members, especially those offering Verification Router Services. Honored by the Distribution Management Award
The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) selects winners based on innovative industry contributions and solutions that enable efficiency, effectiveness and safety throughout the end-to-end healthcare supply chain. OCI members and supporters have worked for years researching, testing and developing new credentialing solutions to achieve compliance with the U.S. FDA’s Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) before the deadline of November 27, 2023. This initiative, along with Authorized Trading Partner (ATP) authentication efforts, were the deciding factors in the OCI committee being granted with the prestigious Distribution Management Award at the 2023 HDA Distribution Management Conference.
