Based in the United States, the customer manufactures rocket vehicles and provides launch services for NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense and other esteemed organizations. As a long-standing digital transformation partner for this aerospace leader, our Design Automation and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) teams were chosen to implement new system architectures, integrate manufacturing systems and lead user training for the new solutions. The Customer’s Need
Always striving for continuous improvement of their products and processes, the customer has worked with our specialists on a series of technology projects over the years. Our Design Automation and PLM practices have amassed a wealth of process knowledge and technical expertise from working with the aerospace leader’s niche systems. As a result, our experts are uniquely positioned to address the customer’s evolving needs across departments and their digital ecosystem. For this project, the customer faced an increasingly long project backlog and requested that our teams enhance their software maintenance and development processes to improve efficiencies. Additionally, they wanted our specialists to transfer their expertise and process knowledge to new employees through a series of in-depth training sessions.

About the Project
For this project, our team will focus on delivering new PLM and design system architectures, implementing additional software applications to augment existing technology solutions and providing software training and support to new users in the organization.
From a Design Automation standpoint, Engineering Industries eXcellence will provide services to enhance the capabilities and execution of design processes in the customer’s Siemens NX CAD environment. Our team will:
- Implement Siemens NX Check-Mate to simplify the work of the customer's design engineers by automatically ensuring that Computer-Aided Design (CAD) data and product designs adhere to industry and company standards.
- Implement Siemens NX Technical Data Package (TDP) to allow for collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, inspection and quality, assembly, service and any others requiring access to product design content.
- Develop a custom weld management application in Siemens NX to support the customer's complex requirements.
- Integrate Siemens NX Model-Based Definition (MBD) to the customer's Siemens Teamcenter for Manufacturing database and enable automated rule-based authoring of Product & Manufacturing Information (PMI) accessible by both engineering and manufacturing.
On the PLM side, Engineering Industries eXcellence will provide services and consulting expertise to transform and increase data management capabilities in the customer’s Siemens Teamcenter environment, as well as enable integration with manufacturing operations. Our team will:
- Lead PLM data assessment workshops to gain an understanding of the customer’s current level of technology sophistication, then provide design and best practice recommendations.
- Design and deploy a new As-Built Bill of Materials (aBOM) capability within Siemens Teamcenter, especially valuable for managing information about complex products comprised of hardware, electronics and software components with unique configurations.
- Enable the creation of a physical parts inventory in Siemens Teamcenter, building the aBOM structure as work orders are executed in the customer’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and ensuring that assemblies and structures in PLM reflect the current state of builds in the factory in real-time.
- Enhance PLM functionalities for managing the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (mBOM), part logistics, change management and reporting.
