Engineering was both a presenter and set-up an expo booth at the 2014 PLM conference.

Our booth showcased Engineering’s consulting services by highlighting our past experience with different types of software implementations. We also demonstrated our Shop Floor Management prototype that can be used with Google Glass to obtain real time data about shop floor processes accessible within Google glasses.

Engineering consultant Juan Norton also presented common manufacturing data issues related to Teamcenter gathered through years of experience working with Teamcenter and DNC solutions. Many data issues affect Teamcenter performance and create a barrier for its use across development teams. Along with a discussion of these data issues, Juan offered some tips about configuring Teamcenter Rich Client.

  1. Lack of naming conventions
  2. Misuse of item types
  3. Different CAM file contents
  4. Inconsistent definitions
  5. No direct traceability
  6. No manufacturing data management
  7. Difficulty in finding files outside Teamcenter
  8. No use of Manufacturing Resource Libraries (MRL)
  9. Lack of security definitions
  10. No code shared across teams
