About the Customer
Engineering Industries eXcellence has begun a new digital transformation project for a North American manufacturer of electronics testing equipment and measurement equipment and software. The customer designs and produces innovative instruments such as radar testers, atomic force microscopes, tunable lasers and various power supplies to serve the Telecommunications, Aerospace, Space & Defense, and Electronics, Batteries & Semiconductors industries. Seeking integrated technology upgrades as part of their larger digital transformation strategy, the customer chose Engineering IndX’s Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) practice to implement up-to-date Siemens Opcenter solutions and consolidate the management of multiple production sites under one software deployment.

Their goal was to improve and align their manufacturing and maintenance processes, as well as consolidate production data management under one single instance across all 3 of their U.S. sites. Doing so would contribute to their Industry 4.0 business drivers – increased operational efficiency, lower production costs and easier onboarding of future sites. Although the customer had clear transformation goals, they needed technical expertise to select and implement the right solutions across their facilities. About the Project
Our MOM team specialized in discrete manufacturing first conducted on-site Industry 4.0 Assessments to see how the customer was applying their current software and how we could improve its performance. After collaborating with key stakeholders across sites and production processes to understand the customer’s unique needs, our team created a transformation plan which leverages the Siemens Xcelerator Opcenter MOM suite and migrates the customer’s current software from Siemens Camstar to Siemens Opcenter Execution Electronics. These modern solutions will enable the customer to optimize their production rate and capacity, reduce production waste and machine downtime, and synchronize their processes across sites. As our team continues implementation, we are also providing integration services for their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems, as well as technical training and support for shop floor users.
