We find ourselves in a world headed towards mass customization, where the customer is driving the design of the product and products are increasingly becoming engineered-to-order. Historically, design and manufacturing have been two separate spheres, but the need for product and process flexibility demands that the two worlds blend together.
Manufacturers are looking for tools to efficiently author, simulate, manage and share information throughout their organization. They need solutions that can align manufacturing plans quickly and intelligently based on changing product configurations.
Engineering Industries eXcellence is a system integrator specialized in digital manufacturing technologies. To address the unique needs of assembly, we leverage Siemens Teamcenter to deliver an integrated product and process management solution that connects all the facets of even the most complex design and build lifecycles.
Siemens Teamcenter Product Configurator: With product configuration inside PLM, you can meet the demand for more advanced and varied product offerings without driving up costs. Product Configurator enables users to manage variability data independently from structures like BOMs and BOPs. Different domains (such as design, engineering, content management and manufacturing) can utilize the same variability data without updating a structure. Users can access standard dictionaries and configurator contexts that can be shared across various product lines and models. The tool ensures that only valid or relevant options are available during the configuration process by defining specific rules and business processes. Users can visualize each configuration and validate customers’ decisions before generating a sales order.
Siemens Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner (MPP): By using the existing design data to author, analyze and manage your manufacturing processes within the PLM system, you can build and share your Manufacturing Process Plans throughout the enterprise more quickly and more efficiently. MPP ensures alignment between your engineering BOM, manufacturing BOM and final manufacturing BOP. You can be confident that all designed parts and assemblies are consumed by your manufacturing processes. Users can create processes and operation sequences graphically. They can standardize and re-use assembly processes across multiple plants and production plans. Advanced time management features analyze value-add and non-value-add activities to support lean initiatives.
Siemens Teamcenter Electronic Work Instructions (EWI): Using the Bill of Process and supporting documentation created and verified in PLM, the EWI application enables you to automatically share the latest process information with shop floor operators so they can perform their jobs. Operators can access process steps, 2D/3D visuals, mark-ups, standard texts and PMI directly from the shop floor. EWI is interactive. Operators can manipulate the 3D view, play animated assembly sequences and browse a sequential list of steps to be performed per job order. EWI supports change management between engineering, planning and the production floor. Design changes are reflected in EWI immediately. Operators can create an issue and report it directly from the shop floor to be sent upstream.
At Engineering Industries eXcellence, we understand the concept of the Digital Thread and believe it can transform manufacturing companies’ processes, operations, efficiency and profitability. We work with you from the beginning to virtually define and build out your entire manufacturing process, then validate its feasibility in the virtual world, and finally ensure that it can be executed on the production floor and in the physical layers between PLM and MES.
